GLASSES & APPAREL

Polarized Sunglasses

If you don’t already own a pair of polarized sunglasses you will want to soon. They will allow you to look into the water more clearly than other sunglasses. You will actually be able to see the fish moving around below the water surface, which gives you a huge advantage when fly-fishing. If you have never looked through polarized sunglasses you probably don’t understand the importance of them. All I can say is “seeing is believing.”

Apparel

If you are like me when you go fly-fishing you will start early in the morning and quit in the late afternoon or early evening. Since you will experience different temperatures throughout the day it is a good idea to layer your clothing. I usually will wear a T-shirt, a long sleeve cotton shirt and some sort of pullover or rainwear when I start the day. Throughout the day I adjust to the temperature by removing or adding layers of clothing. It is important to stay comfortable.

Fishing Hats What is fly-fishing without a cool hat? Baseball caps are great but they don’t protect the back of your neck or side of your neck from the sun. A hat that has the sun protection in the back and sides is perfect for the hot summer blazing sun.
